Paver calculator FAQs

How many pavers do I need per square metre?

It depends on the paver size — for example, each 400 × 400 mm paver covers 0.16 m², so you need about 6.25 pavers per square metre before wastage. The calculator works this out for your chosen size and adds a 10% allowance for cuts.

How much bedding sand do I need?

Allow a 30 mm compacted sand bed, which works out to 0.03 cubic metres of sand per square metre of paving.

Why is 10% extra added for wastage?

Cutting pavers to fit edges, corners and curves creates offcuts, and a few pavers can break during laying. The 10% allowance covers this — untick the box if you prefer exact quantities.
